JDirector™
JDirector is a module within StructureStudio™ that supports the ACTOR™. JDirector is written in Java and will run on either Windows® or LINUX®. JDirector has a very flexible schedule table that can be modified while it is processing. The user can add new samples, change priority, or disable samples so that they will not be processed without stopping the current job. JDirector also provides a simple interface for basic robot operations such as mount, center, dismount which can be useful for processing single samples.
Since JDirector is integrated as a module into StructureStudio there is a seamless interface to the data collection and processing. JDirector is recipe based. Typical operations may include:
- Mount or exchange the crystal
- Automatic or manual centering
- Collection of screen images
- Indexing, refinement, and a strategy calculations which creates a collection schedule
- Ranking (data collection will only proceed if the rank is good enough)
- Data collection
- Simultaneous data processing
It is also possible to set up screening jobs, sort based on rank, and then run the collection job.
JDirector has proven effective both at beam lines and in home labs for handling both small and large groups of crystals.
Important software patch for JDirector 2.2
We have identified an issue in JDirector 2.2 when using the Move Pins follow-up job, that in some instances may cause a collision between the robot and the detector. The patch provided below fixes this issue. We strongly suggest that all JDirector 2.2 users download and install this patch.
